An addon domain is a cPanel feature that lets you run multiple independent domains (kompaniyam.uz, ikkinchisaytim.uz) on the same hosting account. It saves money (you don't buy separate hosting per domain) and simplifies management (everything in one cPanel).
How addon domains work
Your cPanel account runs under a primary domain (e.g., kompaniyam.uz). When you add an addon, cPanel creates a new folder in your hosting (public_html/ikkinchisaytim/) and links it to the new domain (ikkinchisaytim.uz). Technically the second domain is also "available as a subdomain" โ ikkinchisaytim.kompaniyam.uz โ but visitors don't see this.
Limitations
Your hosting plan has an addon domain limit. Sayt.uz Basic Hosting allows 5 addon domains, Pro Hosting 25, Premium unlimited. If you need more, upgrade your plan.
Shared resources โ addon domains share the hosting account's resources (disk space, bandwidth, CPU, RAM). If one domain takes heavy load, the others slow down too. For large business sites separate hosting per domain is better.
Security โ if one domain has a security issue (e.g., WordPress malware), it can spread to the others. Stay vigilant and apply strong security.
Adding via cPanel
cPanel โ "Domains" โ "Create A New Domain", or in older cPanel "Addon Domains". Enter the new domain (ikkinchisaytim.uz), Document Root (auto-filled: public_html/ikkinchisaytim), Subdomain (optional). Click "Add Domain" and the new domain is live.
Then upload your new site files to public_html/ikkinchisaytim/ (via FTP or File Manager) or install WordPress via Softaculous.
DNS configuration
You need to change the new domain's NS records to Sayt.uz's NS (or it happens automatically if the domain is registered at Sayt.uz). NS changes propagate in 1-24 hours.
Email and other features
You can create separate email addresses per addon domain: info@ikkinchisaytim.uz, sales@ikkinchisaytim.uz. cPanel โ Email Accounts โ select domain โ create. SSL is also separate per domain (Let's Encrypt automatic).
Sayt.uz practice
Sayt.uz clients average 2-4 addon domains. Most common scenarios: (1) main business plus landing pages on separate domains; (2) one owner running several related businesses (restaurant chain, multiple shops); (3) multilingual sites โ uz on kompaniyam.uz, ru on kompanijam.ru. Tip: if you're launching a high-traffic site, take separate hosting โ you don't want addon domains sharing resources.
