cPanel is the world's most popular hosting control panel, used by 70%+ of shared hosting globally. Created in 1996 by John Nick Koston, now part of Oakley Capital. Through cPanel you manage file management, MySQL databases, email accounts, DNS settings, SSL certificates, and many more functions from your account.

Main cPanel sections

Files β€” File Manager (browse and edit site files), FTP Accounts (create FTP users), Disk Usage, Backup. Databases β€” MySQL Databases (create new DBs), phpMyAdmin (work inside DBs), Remote MySQL (allow external connections). Email β€” Email Accounts (create new accounts like info@yoursite.com), Forwarders, Autoresponders, Spam Filters. Domains β€” Subdomains, Addon Domains (multiple domains on one hosting), Aliases, Redirects. Metrics β€” Visitors, Awstats statistics, Errors, Bandwidth. Security β€” SSH Access, IP Blocker, Hotlink Protection, Let's Encrypt SSL. Software β€” Softaculous (one-click WordPress install), PHP Selector, PHP Extensions.

Installing WordPress via Softaculous

In cPanel open Softaculous, choose WordPress, click "Install Now". Fill in: domain (main or subdomain), directory (leave empty for "public_html"), admin login and password, site name and description. Click "Install" β€” WordPress installs in 30 seconds. Then visit /wp-admin/ and pick a theme.

Creating an email account

cPanel β†’ Email Accounts β†’ "Create" β†’ email name (e.g., info), password, quota limit (typically 250 MB). Once created, access via Webmail (Roundcube) or configure an external client (Gmail, Outlook) using IMAP/SMTP.

Installing an SSL certificate

Free SSL via Let's Encrypt: cPanel β†’ "Let's Encrypt SSL" or "SSL/TLS Status" β†’ "+ Issue" β†’ choose domain β†’ "Issue". SSL is active in 1-2 minutes and the site starts working over https://.

Sayt.uz practice

cPanel is the default panel on Sayt.uz Universal Hosting. Of 8000+ clients, 92% use cPanel (the rest β€” ispmanager or Plesk). Most-used features: File Manager (89%), MySQL Databases (84%), Email Accounts (76%), Let's Encrypt SSL (auto-connected by us), Softaculous WordPress install (71%). Tip: cPanel looks complex, but master the 5-7 features you use daily β€” explore the rest as needed.
