Google Discover is a personalised content feed in the Google mobile app and Chrome mobile. The user searches for nothing but sees articles picked for their interests. A \"content finds you\" approach.
How it works
The algorithm learns interests via search history, YouTube, Gmail, Maps. It picks fresh quality content per topic and shows it in Discover.
Discover traffic traits
Push traffic โ the user didn't search. Episodic โ one day 10000 visits, the next 0. Different from steady search traffic.
What you need for Discover
Google officially recommends only quality content, not special optimisation. But: a large hero image (1200px+) and max-image-preview:large meta.
max-image-preview
<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"max-image-preview:large\"> โ required for Discover.
Topics and content types
News, sports, entertainment, travel, food, tech, health. Technical guides rarely appear.
E-E-A-T and author
Discover values E-E-A-T highly. Anonymous content rarely surfaces. An author with Person Schema is a plus.
Freshness
Discover prioritises fresh content. Old articles almost never appear. Regular new posts matter.
Mobile-first
Discover is mobile-only. Mobile UX and Core Web Vitals are critical.
Analytics
GSC \"Performance on Discover\". If empty, no Discover traffic. Usually 6-12 months of quality content are needed.
Spiky traffic
Servers must be ready โ it can spike to 50000/day. Conversion is low, but brand awareness is good.
Sayt.uz strategy
Not a priority but we are prepared: max-image-preview, hero images, authors. 500-2000 visits/month, episodic. Main focus stays on regular search.
