Connecting Yandex 360 Mail to Your Own Domain: Verification, MX, SPF and DKIM

For a small company or training center, an address like info@center.uz looks far more serious than a free mailbox. Yandex 360 lets you run business email on your own domain: messages are stored on Yandex servers and read in a browser, a mobile app or any mail client. You add the domain, verify ownership and set a few DNS records. Plans and regional terms change over time, so check them on the official Yandex 360 site.

Before you start

Find out where the domain's DNS zone is managed. If the domain was bought through sayt.uz and uses our nameservers, every record is added in the domain's DNS section of the cabinet. Then check what mail runs on the domain today. If messages arrive at your hosting server, new mail will go to Yandex as soon as you change MX, so plan the migration of old mailboxes and tell staff the switch date.

Adding and verifying the domain

Sign in to the Yandex 360 admin panel as the organization administrator and add the domain. Yandex offers verification by DNS TXT record, a meta tag or an HTML file. TXT is the most universal, because it works wherever the site is hosted, even if there is no site yet. The panel gives you a value starting with yandex-verification:.

TypeNameValue
TXT@yandex-verification: 1a2b3c4d5e6f7a8b

Copy it exactly, including the space after the colon. Keep existing SPF and other TXT records as separate records rather than merging them. Then click the check button; if it fails, wait a few hours for propagation.

MX, SPF and DKIM

Yandex 360 needs one MX record: mx.yandex.net with priority 10. Delete MX records pointing to the old mail server, otherwise senders will split messages between the two servers.

; core records for Yandex 360 (example)
@ MX 10 mx.yandex.net.
@ TXT "v=spf1 redirect=_spf.yandex.net"
mail._domainkey TXT "v=DKIM1; k=rsa; t=s; p=MIGfMA0GCSqG..."
_dmarc TXT "v=DMARC1; p=none; rua=mailto:admin@example.uz"

If all mail leaves through Yandex, v=spf1 redirect=_spf.yandex.net is enough. If your website also sends mail from hosting, use include instead and combine both sources in one record, for example v=spf1 include:_spf.yandex.net a mx ~all. Two separate SPF records are an error. For DKIM, the domain settings in the Yandex 360 panel show a record usually named mail._domainkey with a long key starting with v=DKIM1; add it as TXT. Panels that reject long strings accept the value split into several quoted chunks. Start DMARC with p=none and tighten it later.

Checking the setup

dig +short MX example.uz
dig +short TXT example.uz
dig +short TXT mail._domainkey.example.uz

You should see 10 mx.yandex.net., the SPF and verification records, and the DKIM key. Send a test message from an outside address and reply to it; SPF and DKIM should show "pass" in the headers.

Example: a training center in Namangan

A language school in Namangan wanted tidy correspondence with parents and partners. The administrator added the domain to Yandex 360, verified it by TXT, and switched MX to mx.yandex.net on a Saturday evening. Because the website's sign-up form sends mail from hosting, the SPF record included the hosting server alongside include:_spf.yandex.net. On Monday every teacher opened their mailbox in the mobile app, and form messages reached reception without landing in spam.

Mail clients

For Outlook, Thunderbird or a phone's built-in mail app, Yandex typically lists imap.yandex.ru on port 993 with SSL for incoming mail and smtp.yandex.ru on port 465 for outgoing. The login is the full address. Some clients require an app password created in the Yandex account settings; see the Yandex 360 help pages.
